Amy Giroux


Research Associate


Amy Giroux is a senior Interdisciplinary Studies major at the University of Central Florida with concentrations in Computational Sciences (Mathematics) and Letters and Modern Languages (Writing and Rhetoric) and a minor in Environmental Studies. Her goal is to contribute to sustainability both scientifically and socially and to help understand and lessen our human impact on the rest of the world.

She was a research assistant for Dr. Stacey Pigg and worked on a project concerning patterns of use of learning spaces such as the Technology Commons on UCF’s campus. She is currently working as a research associate in the Political Ecology lab with Dr. Peter Jacques on a climate skepticism project. She is also conducting independent research with Dr. Patrick Murphy concerning the effectiveness of the type and placement of various rhetorical strategies and appeals concerning environmental issues and climate change in popular science books.

Amy has many hobbies, including photography, various arts and crafts, bicycling, gardening, and reading.
