{"id":2,"date":"2017-08-03T20:53:34","date_gmt":"2017-08-03T20:53:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sciences.ucf.edu\/adaptive-community\/?page_id=2"},"modified":"2019-02-19T13:59:17","modified_gmt":"2019-02-19T18:59:17","slug":"sample-page","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/sciences.ucf.edu\/psychology\/adaptive-community\/","title":{"rendered":"Home"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The goal of the UCF Adaptive Community is to provide individuals with acquired physical and cognitive disabilities an opportunity to meet others, explore hobbies, and engage in an interdisciplinary community.<\/p>\n<p>The UCF Adaptive Community offers opportunities for participation in theater, music, and sports activities at <strong>no cost<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Aphasia Choir<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ul>\n<li>Open to all community members with acquired speech and language difficulties<\/li>\n<li>Participants will learn songs and perform a choir concert<\/li>\n<li>UCF faculty, staff, and students will provide supports for individuals as needed to fully participate in choir activities<\/li>\n<li>View our Spring 2018 performance <a href=\"https:\/\/sciencescosmaincms.cm.ucf.edu\/psychology\/adaptive-community\/sample-page\/spring2018performances\/\">here<\/a>!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Adaptive Community Theater<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Open to all community members with any acquired neurological disability<\/li>\n<li>Participants will write and perform in an original production<\/li>\n<li>UCF faculty, staff, and students will provide supports for individuals as needed to fully participate in the writing, staging, and performing of an original production<\/li>\n<li>View our Spring 2018 performance <a href=\"https:\/\/sciencescosmaincms.cm.ucf.edu\/psychology\/adaptive-community\/sample-page\/spring2018performances\/\">here<\/a>!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Adaptive Sports<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Open to all community members with any \u00a0acquired neurological disability<\/li>\n<li>Participants will choose one of three sports and will practice with\u00a0their team and play in a tournament\n<ul>\n<li>Wheelchair Basketball for individuals with spinal cord injuries or acquired movement disorders<\/li>\n<li>Sitting Volleyball for anyone with a neurological injury or disease<\/li>\n<li>Adaptive Softball for anyone with a neurological injury or disease<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>UCF faculty, staff, and students will provide supports for individuals as needed to fully participate in the practice and playing of each sport<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If you would like to <strong>participate<\/strong> in any of these programs:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Members of the Orlando community who have sustained a neurological injury, or who have developed a neurodegenerative disease, are invited to participate.<\/li>\n<li>Participants must be at least 18 years old and have an acquired disability.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Please print, fill out, and bring the following forms with you to <strong>participate<\/strong> in any of the programs:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/sciencescosmaincms.cm.ucf.edu\/psychology\/adaptive-community\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/32\/2017\/08\/UCF-Adaptive-Community-Waiver.pdf\">UCF Adaptive Community Waiver<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/sciencescosmaincms.cm.ucf.edu\/psychology\/adaptive-community\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/32\/2017\/08\/Media_Release.pdf\">UCF Adaptive Community Media Release<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If you would like to <strong>volunteer<\/strong> to assist with any of these programs:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Volunteers must be a current UCF student, staff or faculty member.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Please note that all participants and volunteers\u00a0will be asked to complete the Consent for Participation and Media Release forms\u00a0before you can participate in any of these programs.<\/p>\n<p>Please complete the survey below to sign up as either a volunteer or a participant.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/ucf.qualtrics.com\/jfe\/form\/SV_e536oMWmIvDTcr3\">UCF Adaptive Community Sign-up<\/a><\/p>\n<p>For more information, please email <a href=\"mailto:UCFAdaptiveCommunity@ucf.edu\">UCFAdaptiveCommunity@ucf.edu<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The goal of the UCF Adaptive Community is to provide individuals with acquired physical and cognitive disabilities an opportunity to meet others, explore hobbies, and engage in an interdisciplinary community.
