The study will involve computer tasks and thinking games conducted in our lab at UCF (Orlando, FL) it will take ~4-5 hours to complete a single study session. Compensation will be provided ($100 session). <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000\">Candidates must speak English fluently and have at least an 8th grade education.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\"><span style=\"color: #000000\">Currently, our <strong>remaining unfilled groups<\/strong> are as follows:<\/span><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<ul data-editing-info=\"{&quot;applyListStyleFromLevel&quot;:true}\">\n<li>\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\" role=\"presentation\"><span style=\"color: #000000\">Ages 20-39: White Non-Hispanic<\/span><\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\" role=\"presentation\"><span style=\"color: #000000\">Ages 40-59: All<\/span><\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\" role=\"presentation\"><span style=\"color: #000000\">Ages 60+: Subjective Cognitive Decline (meets\u00a0<u>both<\/u>\u00a0of the following criteria)<\/span><\/div>\n<ul data-editing-info=\"{&quot;applyListStyleFromLevel&quot;:true}\">\n<li>\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\" role=\"presentation\"><span style=\"color: #000000\">Family history of Alzheimer&#8217;s disease or dementia<\/span><\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\" role=\"presentation\"><span style=\"color: #000000\">Experiencing worrisome changes in memory<\/span><\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000000\">Misinformation and Exploitation in Aging and Alzheimer\u2019s Disease<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-418 \" src=\"https:\/\/sciences.ucf.edu\/psychology\/llrn\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2024\/08\/FDOH-Study2.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"167\" height=\"138\" \/><em>[This study is concluding data collection and is no longer recruiting new participants.]<\/em> This project includes participants from <strong>ages 65-90 years old<\/strong> to in a paid study that will examine risk factors for deception and exploitation. The study will include seniors with memory impairments and those free of cognitive impairments from <em><strong>diverse racial and ethnic backgrounds<\/strong><\/em>. The results of this study will be used to identify predictors of fraud, and inform interventions for reducing elder fraud.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\">This project is supported by the Florida Department of Health and conducted by Dr. Nichole Lighthall at the University of Central Florida (UCF). Participants will be asked to complete mental tasks and surveys in our lab at UCF (Orlando, FL). The study will include two sessions. Each study session will take ~4-5 hours to complete. Eligible participants will be offered the opportunity to join additional paid study components, including non-invasive brain imaging. Participants will receive compensation ($100 first session, $125 second session). Candidates must speak English fluently and have at least an 8th grade education.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3><strong>AGING RESEARCH PARTICIPANT POOL<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\">Adults of any age may also join the<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/sciences.ucf.edu\/psychology\/llrn\/\">UCF Learning &amp; Longevity Research Network (LLRN)<\/a> <span style=\"color: #000000\">participant pool.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\">The UCF LLRN seeks to improve human lives across adulthood. We do this through targeted research on cognition, emotion, and physical health in aging. Researchers in the LLRN are UCF faculty and students from a diverse group of disciplines, so we can each bring unique strengths to the study of aging. Our projects often involve collaborations across traditional disciplinary boundaries, since this is where the greatest discoveries will likely be found!
