Dr. Falcão is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Gerontology at the University of São Paulo (USP) in Brazil. She earned her PhD in Psychology from the University of Brasília (UnB). Dr. Falcão completed a Postgraduate Internship at the University Hospital of Brasilia (HUB), working at the Reference Center for Health Care for the Elderly and Alzheimer’s Disease. She earned both her Master’s degree in Social Psychology, as well as her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, from the Federal University of Paraíba (UFPB). Dr. Falcão’s research and educational interests include development of community projects related to Aging and Family Psychology. From 2007 to 2011, she served as the Coordinator of the Psycho-Socio-Family and Educational Care Program for Caregivers and Relatives of Seniors with Alzheimer’s Disease at the Rehabilitation Center of the Geriatric-Day Hospital (IPQ-HC-FMUSP). Dr. Falcão worked as a postdoctoral fellow in the OLDeR Lab from 2017-2018. Her research interests continue to focus on caregiving, attachment style, filial obligation, familism, social relationships, depression, and life satisfaction.
