In the Fall of 2016, Dr. Alexander joined the faculty at UCF as a clinical professor in the Clinical Ph.D. program. Prior to coming to UCF, she was a faculty member for over 20 years at Alliant International University in San Diego.  Dr. Alexander received her Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the University of Alabama and completed her pre-doctoral internship at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Dr. Alexander’s research, academic, and clinical interests focus on children.  Trained as a pediatric/clinical child psychologist, she has two main areas of interest:  children’s social functioning and factors impacting pediatric unintentional injuries and child safety.  Recent research activities have examined the impact of social media on mood in adolescents and the impact of maternal anxiety on supervision of children to avoid injuries.
