Q: What is Psi Chi?
A: Psi Chi is an International Honor Society whose purpose is to encourage, stimulate, and maintain excellence in scholarship of the individual members in all fields, particularly in psychology, and to advance the science of psychology.
Q: Who can join UCF Orlando Psi Chi?
A: Psi Chi membership is open to both undergraduate and graduate current UCF students who are majoring or minoring in psychology and who meet specific academic criteria. Certain criteria are subject to change every semester, so be sure to double check our requirements.
Q: What kind of activities does Psi Chi Offer?
A: Psi Chi chapters often host academic and social events such as guest lectures, workshops, and networking opportunities. Members may also have access to various research, social, and career opportunities.
Q: What are the benefits to joining Psi Chi?
A: Benefits include access to a network of professionals and peers, eligibility for scholarships and awards, opportunities for leadership and involvement in psychological research, and inclusion on your resume to highlight your academic achievements.
Q: When are applications accepted/open?
A: Applications are open for a limited time during the Fall and Spring semesters. To be fair to all of the members, applications are not accepted beyond those times. If you would like to become a member, you must submit an application during the application window. There are no exceptions to this policy. Be sure to frequently check this website and our social medias to get updates.
Q: When does Psi Chi Host their meetings?
A: GBMs are hosted once a month while socials and workshops will vary throughout the year. For more information on upcoming meetings, check the UCF Psi Chi Instagram and/or join our Discord.
Q: Can I attend meetings, events, and volunteering if I’m not a member?
A: Anyone interested in joining Psi Chi can attend our General Body Meetings. However, certain events and meetings will be *member exclusive*. Check with one of our officers or email us at ucfpsichi@gmail.com if you are unsure if an event is member exclusive.
Q: Where do meetings take place?
A: Meetings take place on the UCF Main Campus and on Zoom. For the Fall 2024 semester, we will be meeting in the Student Union, Room 224. The Zoom link to our meetings is located on our Schedule page.
Q: I’ve been accepted into both the International Psi Chi organization and the UCF Orlando Chapter, but still haven’t received my certificate. What do I do?
A: If you just got accepted into Psi Chi, congratulations! You will receive your certificate at or directly after our next inauguration. If you have been a member for at least a semester and have not received your certificate, reach out to one of the officers or email us at ucfpsichi@gmail.com and we can have it sent to you.
