For Jason: How much did you work with technology in research?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">A lot of programs are interdisciplinary, human factors is transdisciplinary <\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Differs based on what you want to focus on, but more focused on the relationship between humans and robots <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong>2. How did you guys get connected to the areas you\u2019re in?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Nikki<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">: Wanted to be a clinical psychologist, shadowed an alumni and realized that\u2019s the last thing I wanted to do. Wasn\u2019t for me and didn\u2019t feel like it was something I\u2019d be really passionate about. I looked around, looked online and stumbled across I\/O, found interest in it. (Onetonline.com)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><b>Amanda<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">: I did undergrad at UCF, was in Psi Chi, Psych Society, Multicultural Psych. Was involved in a lot of labs (Restores, ACAT). Being from Brazil, could be a practicing psychologist with a Bachelor\u2019s, did not know about graduate school. While interning at mental health association, found interest in the office space as opposed to talking to the clients. Looked at careers in Human Factors and I\/O, and just though I\/O was for me (so many opportunities) Still learning with every experience. <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><b>Matt<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">: Watched SIlence of the Lambs way too much in high school, psychologist job seemed feasible. Worked in social psychology lab, then clinical psychology and though that\u2019s definitely what I wanted (more flexibility than forensic) Decide what you would like to do the most. <\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Caitlyn<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">: One of my first labs was I\/O, realized I did not want to do I\/O. Through experiences (labs) you will find out what you are and aren\u2019t passionate about, what population you want to work with. Found out I could do counseling and research when working with the Marriage &amp; Family Institute. <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3><strong>3. For Matt: Why did you say Clinical psychology was broader than Forensic psychology?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The feeling I got was that a clinical psychologist can do all or most of what a forensic psychologist can do, but not vice versa. (seeing patients, general population) \u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3><strong>4. For Dr. Barry: What are the benefits of jumping right into working rather than research?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">It depends on where you personally stand, wanted to be as effective as I could possibly be. Being able to do the research and appreciate what that meant (when working with students) and apply it was very valuable. Depends on your comfort level. <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><strong>5. For Caitlyn: Did you get a job in the counseling field with a Bachelor\u2019s?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">I took time between Masters and Ph.D., but if you want clinical experience a lot of people seek out behavioral tech positions. Depends on what you would like to do in between that time. There are lab opportunities, if you want to stay connected to the school. <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><strong>6.
