\/><\/p>\n<p>The Understanding Young Children and Families Laboratory is interested in furthering our understanding of the parent\/caregiver-young child connection. \u00a0To do so, a number of research studies are always underway. \u00a0Some examples of our recent and current work include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>The Effectiveness of Evidence-Based Attachment-Focused Parenting for Families with Young Children:\u00a0 Using <em>Circle of Security<\/em> in the Child Welfare System<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Piloting the Circle of Security Group Intervention for Pregnant and Parenting Mothers Who Are Substance-Involved<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Understanding Predictors of Child Maltreatment Potential:\u00a0<\/strong><strong>A Closer Look at Mother and Child Temperament,\u00a0<\/strong><strong>Emotion and Behavior Regulation, and Stress and Coping<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Predicting Child Maltreatment Potential in Mothers Who Are Substance-Involved:\u00a0A Study of Temperament, Adverse Childhood Experiences, Stress, and Emotion Regulation\u00a0as Mechanisms of Action<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>The Role of Parents\u2019 Characteristics, Parenting Behaviors, and Parent-Child Interactions in the Functioning of Young Children<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Mothers&#8217; Temperament, Adverse Childhood Experiences, and Psychological Symptoms: How Are Enduring Maternal Characteristics Related to Mothers&#8217; Perceptions of Children&#8217;s Temperament, Behavior Problems, and Adaptive
