Dr. Sheppard earned his PhD in clinical psychology from Fielding Graduate University in Santa Barbara, California. He is licensed to practice as a psychologist in the state of Florida. His chief interest is the treatment and research of trauma spectrum disorders. He has worked in a variety of clinical settings including outpatient, intensive outpatient, assisted living, and inpatient settings with military, community mental health, homeless, and geriatric populations.<\/p>\n
He was recognized by the American Red Cross and the U.S. Army Volunteer Corps for his service to a military intensive outpatient program (IOP) treating high-risk active-duty service members. He served the chief of this program in support of the Office of the Surgeon General\u2019s expansion of IOPs across numerous military installations and branches.<\/p>\n
Dr. Sheppard is trained in dialectic behavioral therapy and cognitive processing therapy. He has conducted research on topics related to burdensomeness, suicidality, distress tolerance, tension reduction, mental health provider attitudes, cannabis use, pain, and anxiety.
