Dr. Ghislaine Celine Atkins (She\/Her) is a lecturer in the psychology department at the University of Central Florida. She is a developmental psychologist by training and graduated with her doctorate from the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 2021. Prior to that, she earned a master of arts degree in social psychology at San Francisco State University. Importantly, Dr. Atkins is also an alumni from University of Central Florida and she earned her bachelor\u2019s of science in psychology with a minor in African-American studies in 2011.\u00a0 Dr. Atkins has an interdisciplinary research background and has experience collaborating in public health, medical sociology, social work, nursing, aging studies, Pan-Africanism, and Black psychology research. Her doctoral dissertation examined attachment theory as a mediator for mental health outcomes for familial caregivers of aging adults living with difficulties. Dr. Atkins has taught several semesters of general psychology (previous institution), social psychology, psychology of motivation and emotion, and psychology of diversity.
