Her research examines the dyadic micro-foundations of teams\u2014how the unique relationships and interactions between pairs of team members shape communication, behavior, and team effectiveness. Rather than viewing workplace behaviors solely as characteristics of individuals or entire teams, she studies how people behave differently depending on whom they are interacting with, and what these relationship-specific patterns reveal about collaboration at work. Dr. Lehmann focuses particularly on relational competencies and behaviors such as humility, intellectual humility, and listening, examining how they unfold within workplace relationships and how they influence psychological safety, constructive disagreement, collaboration, creativity, and team performance. She is also interested in how these interpersonal dynamics can be intentionally improved, including through high-quality listening interventions. Her work integrates laboratory experiments and field studies and examines these processes at the individual, dyad, and team levels. Her research has been published in journals including the Journal of Applied Psychology, Journal of Business Ethics, Personality and Social Psychology Bulletin, Journal of Business and Psychology, and Applied Psychology. She is a co-PI on a $240,000 Templeton-funded project on intentional listening and intellectual humility and a co-founder of the Humility Research Hub. Prior to joining UCF, Dr. Lehmann was a postdoctoral researcher at Carnegie Mellon University’s Tepper School of Business and at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, where she earned her Ph.D. in Organizational Behavior and Human Resources Management. Before entering academia, she worked in industry in international training, sales, and marketing roles, experience that informs her interest in understanding and improving how people communicate and collaborate in organizations.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Dr. Michal Lehmann is an Assistant Professor of Psychology in Industrial and Organizational Psychology at the University of Central Florida.
