FWC-WIM FY1819 Nonnative Fish and Wildlife Management in Florida

Using disease ecology, population genetics and environmental detection to understand and mitigate a recent African clawed frog (Xenopus laevis) invasion in the Tampa Bay area

The proposed research address several current FFWCC Wildlife Impact Management priority needs, including development of a new technique that can increase detection and removal of a nonnative, understanding population dynamics of an expanding nonnative, and improving current invasive population estimates via direct observation, genetic characterization, and eDNA.
