Biography

A social and data decision science professional with a multifaceted background within multiple industries. Flexible, innovative, detailed-oriented communicator offering 7+ years of leadership experience training, mentoring, and coaching employees; while leading projects, managing operations with teamwork, and problem-solving research and development (R&D).

A diverse educational background, holding MBA with a concentration in process improvement and certification in lean six sigma. A Master in Science in Leadership and Human Resource Development with Workforce Development and Data Analytics certifications, plus a Bachelor’s in Public Administration concentration in Public Affairs. In addition, Carvis is a Certified Nutrition Coach, Certified Nonprofit Professional, and Certified ServSafe Food Protection Manager.

Carvis’s immediate goals are to earn his Ph.D. while earning multiple professional certifications in statistical software, business analytics, and GIS applications. Carvis’s long-term goals are to gain a position as a Research Scientist, Business Analyst, or Business Intelligence Engineer and continue teaching tomorrow’s future leaders as Adjunct professors.

Research Interests: Social inequalities, education, epidemiology, health, family, and communities, using learning science, decision science, medicine, and public sociology; such as public affairs, social wellness, health disparities, food insecurity, early childhood development, workforce development, exercise science (cardiology), public health, biomedical engineering, preventative medical care, gender studies, masculinity, and critical race theory.
