{"id":305,"date":"2015-11-12T22:34:13","date_gmt":"2015-11-13T03:34:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sociology.cos.ucf.edu\/thawthorne\/?p=305"},"modified":"2015-11-12T22:34:13","modified_gmt":"2015-11-13T03:34:13","slug":"mapping-marine-debris-with-youth-and-their-local-knowledge-on-caye-caulker-belize","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sciences.ucf.edu\/sociology\/thawthorne\/mapping-marine-debris-with-youth-and-their-local-knowledge-on-caye-caulker-belize\/","title":{"rendered":"Mapping Marine Debris with Youth and their Local Knowledge on Caye Caulker, Belize"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Caye Caulker, Belize<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>11\/12\/2015<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Today I had the privilege of returning to work with Form 3 and Form 2 students at the Ocean Academy on Caye Caulker, Belize.\u00a0 As usual I was energized by the youth, particularly their ideas and their active engagement in the lessons we completed together.\u00a0 Unlike previous trips with groups of college students in my study abroad course, I went in alone today.\u00a0 It was somewhat terrifying being that outnumbered, but we had a great, great day.<\/p>\n<p>It began with three simple questions.\u00a0 Where is marine debris on this island? What do I know about?
