Bogardus and became affiliated with the\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.achsnatl.org\/\">Association of College Honor Societies<\/a>\u00a0(ACHS)<\/strong> in 1967. AKD is also affiliated with the\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.asanet.org\/\">American Sociological Association\u00a0<\/a>(ASA).\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>The purpose of Alpha Kappa Delta\u00a0is to seek to acknowledge and promote excellence in the scholarship in the study of sociology, the research of social problems, and such other social and intellectual activities as will lead to improvement in the human condition.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h4><\/h4>\n<h5>Scholarships<\/h5>\n<p>Alpha Kappa Delta offers several opportunities for funding and awards for each year.\u00a0 For more information on funding and deadlines, please <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.alphakappadelta.org\/Awards_Funding.html\">Click Here<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<h5>Fees and Application:<\/h5>\n<p>There is a one-time initiation fee of $65 (lifetime membership and honor cord).<\/p>\n<h5>Who Can Join?<\/h5>\n<p>Juniors, seniors and graduate students become eligible to join when they meet the following criteria for membership.<\/p>\n<h5>Undergraduate Students (Junior and seniors)<\/h5>\n<p>Must have declared sociology major (sociology minors are eligible), rank in the top 35% of graduating class, must have an average of at least 3.0 GPA in sociology courses and must have completed 4 courses in sociology.<\/p>\n<h5>Graduate Students<\/h5>\n<p>Be officially admitted to graduate study in sociology, must have completed one-half year of graduate study in sociology, GPA of a B or better.<\/p>\n<p>For more information on eligibility, please <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.alphakappadelta.org\/Eligibility.html\">Click Here<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"What is Alpha Kappa Delta?
