The Department of Sociology offers seven different minors, available to non-Sociology majors. Like the B.A. degree, our minors increase students\u2019 social awareness and their ability to employ a sociological perspective to interpret social institutions and behavior.<\/p>\n

\n

Crime, Law, and Deviance Minor<\/a><\/h4>\n

The Crime, Law, and Deviance minor examines matters of sociological interest related to the study and understanding of deviant, delinquent, and criminal behavior, the relationship between law and society, and victimology.<\/p>\n

Global Sociology Minor<\/a><\/h4>\n

The Global Sociology minor focuses on social problems from a global perspective.\u00a0 The minor facilitates an understanding of international social problems and prepares students for careers and graduate school in related fields.<\/p>\n

Mass Culture and Collective Behavior Minor<\/a><\/h4>\n

The Mass Culture and Collective Behavior Minor provides students with an opportunity to learn about sociological research within the institutions of religion, sports, and leisure in order to develop a working knowledge of how public opinion and contemporary social movements shape collective behavior and mass culture.<\/p>\n

Medical Sociology Minor<\/a><\/h4>\n

The Medical Sociology minor examines the social determinants of health and illness, and their impact on the delivery of health care and access to medical resources.<\/p>\n

Sociology Minor<\/a><\/h4>\n

The Sociology Minor increases students\u2019 social awareness and their ability to employ a sociological perspective to interpret social institutions and behavior.<\/p>\n

Social Structures and Opportunity Minor<\/a><\/h4>\n

The Social Structures and Opportunity Minor examines the sociological study of class, status, and power in a contemporary global society.<\/p>\n

Spatial Sociology Minor<\/a><\/h4>\n
