The 15-credit Science, Technology, and Society (STS) Certificate explores how science and technology shape everyday life, institutions, and public policy. Students examine how culture, politics, ethics, and inequality influence what gets developed, how it is used, and who benefits.<\/p>\n
Drawing on the social sciences and humanities, the certificate helps students evaluate ethical and policy questions, analyze the social consequences of innovation, and communicate complex issues clearly. These skills complement study in health, computing, business, public policy, and other fields where technological change affects people’s lives.<\/p>\n
The certificate can be completed fully online. Individual elective offerings vary by semester.<\/p>\n
