Eaven Holder, PhD is a criminologist and Assistant Professor of Sociology. Having earned his doctorate in criminology, law, and society from the University of Florida in 2023, his research and teaching interests are focused on hate crime and formal social control. His studies have mostly examined the spatial dynamics of identity motivated violence as well as differences in policing styles by community context. Dr. Holder is also interested in issues of crime measurement and quantitative methods, more broadly, with his dissertation focusing on the ways in which hate crime is investigated, classified, and reported across the United States over the past three decades.
