Dr. Christen H. Fleming is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biology with a highly interdisciplinary background. As an undergraduate student, he majored in physics, mathematics and statistics at the University of South Alabama (USA), and was an RA in experimental particle physics under Dr. Justin Sanders and in approximation theory under Dr. Vasiliy Prokhorov. After undergraduate study, Fleming obtained his Ph.D. in physics at the University of Maryland (UMD), with a thesis on non-equilibrium quantum statistical mechanics under Dr. Bei-Lok Hu. After graduate school, Dr. Fleming became a postdoc, a fellow, and, finally, a research associate at the Smithsonian Conservation Biology Institute (SCBI) under Dr. Justin M. Calabrese.
