Katherine is from Baltimore, Maryland where she attended the University of Maryland Baltimore County for two years before transferring to the University of Central Florida. She graduated with her B.S. in Biology in December 2021. She is in her first year as a Ph.D. student.
She has a strong interest in seascape ecology and using Geographic Information Science to identify vulnerable coastal areas. She has a passion for promoting scientific literacy and the Open Science movement. Katherine worked as a student intern at the National Aquarium in Baltimore, before starting as a research assistant at LLACE. She hopes to graduate with her Ph.D. degree and continue doing research to mitigate the impacts of climate change.
In her spare time, she does a lot of creative writing, plays piano, and works on her digital art skills. She also loves to make bread, soaps, and candles. Katherine finished her first half marathon race this spring!
