Sydney is from Tucson, Arizona originally, but her family currently lives in West Palm Beach, FL. She is expected to graduate as a first-generation scholar in Spring 2023 with a B.S. in Biology – Marine and Aquatic Track with a minor in Geosciences.
Sydney analyzes stomach contents of common snook, spotted seatrout, and red drum as a part of an ongoing gut diet analysis study investigating trophic interactions between sport fish and forage fish in the Indian River Lagoon. She worked as an education docent for the Loggerhead Marine life Center in Juno Beach, FL. Currently, she volunteers with the UCF Knights for Wildlife Conservation Club. She aims to pursue a career working in the rehabilitation and education of marine animals.
Sydney received the People’s Choice Award from the Student Scholar Symposium in March 2023.
Her favorite book is the Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller. She has a black Labrador named Whiskey that she loves spending time with when she gets the chance to visit her family. She also enjoys crocheting and embroidery.
