Postdoctoral position in surface electron and molecular dynamics in Vaida’s Laboratory at the University of Central Florida, in Orlando Florida.
We are seeking an outstanding candidate for a postdoctoral position in our laboratory to study and understand the mechanisms of photoinduced and photocatalytic reactions at solid surfaces through the detection of highly unstable intermediate species and final products. For these investigation photoelectron spectroscopy and mass spectrometry in conjunction with femtosecond laser pulses in the VUV and XUV spectral domain will be employed. The initial appointment is for one year.
The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. or the equivalent degree in Physics, Chemistry, or a related field, with an emphasis in ultrafast spectroscopy and/or surface science. Desired laboratory skills include experience with (i) femtosecond lasers, (ii) surface science, i.e. techniques for surface preparation and characterization, and (iii) UHV technology. Experience in pump-probe spectroscopy, molecular dynamics, catalysis, photocatalysis, 2D materials, and high harmonic generation are a plus. Desired computer skills include programming in LabView as well as graphing and data analysis in Origin.
The candidate will have a strong background in at least some of the areas listed above, a proven research ability, and evidence of future research potential. The candidate is expected to be able to work well independently and cooperatively with a team and to communicate the results of his/her research both orally and in writing. Demonstrated written and oral communication skills are highly desirable. Questions regarding this position can be addressed to Dr. Vaida at mihai.vaida@ucf.edu.
Applicants should submit a cover letter, curriculum vitae (including a list of publications) and statement of past research. In addition, they should arrange to have three letters of reference sent directly by the writers to Dr. Vaida. Applications will be considered only after all the requested material has been received. Screening of applicants will begin immediately and will continue until the position has been filled.
