Gaither Lab at JMIH 2026

In July 2026, members of the Gaither Lab attended the Joint Meeting of Ichthyologists and Herpetologists (JMIH) in New Orleans. Kathryn Greiner-Ferris and Emily Farrell both gave awesome presentations! Kathryn won the Stoye Best Oral Presentation at JMIH on her work exploring epigenetics and population connectivity in Syngnathidae! Congrats!

Indian River Lagoon Symposium

In February 2024, graduate students from the Gaither Lab attended the Indian River Lagoon Symposium in Fort Pierce, FL. PhD Candidate Michelle Shaffer won the Outstanding Student Presentation Award for her talk titled “Evaluating Ecological Community Structure over Long Time Scales in the Northern Indian River Lagoon, FL.” Great job Michelle!

On March 26th, 2024 members of the Gaither Lab attended UCF’s annual Student Scholar Symposium. Graduate students Samuel Greaves and Michelle Shaffer, as well as undergraduates Hillary Quach and Nadia Barsis presented posters.
