Congrats to Bridget Vincent for being selected for the Student Undergraduate Research Council (SURC) at UCF. Bridget is Hoffman labs third undergraduate on the council in the last few years. Very proud of my undergraduates for promoting undergraduate research on campus.

Very proud of two of the Hoffman lab undergraduates who both will be starting graduate schools in Fall 2o18! Brittany will be starting an M.S. in Biology at UCF with the De Bekker lab. Shelly will be starting a Ph.D. in Botany at the University of Florida with Drs. Pam and Doug Soltis.

Two Hoffman Lab undergraduates, Shelly Gaynor and Bridget Vincent, presented at UCF’s Showcase for Undergraduate Research this year. Shelly even won Life Science Judges’ Choice for her project!   Shelly presented her project on smooth cordgrass restoration genetics.   Bridget presented her work on Croaker population genetics. I had a good time hanging out with Knightro!

Congratulations to Bridget Vincent for presenting her project for the first time today at the Florida Undergraduate Research Conference (or FURC). Bridget started working in Hoffman lab in Fall 2017 on a project focused on Croaker. Congrats Bridget!

Congrats to Brittany Lebert (B.S.) and Daniel Volk (M.S.) for finishing their degrees! Daniel Volk finished his M.S. this November.  Brittany started in Hoffman Lab in 2016, and aims to start a graduate program in Fall 2018. Congrats to Brittany Lebert, a senior undergraduate in Hoffman Lab, for her 1st first author publication! Brittany, Sam Sanford and Levi Reisinger (all UCF Biology undergraduates)  sequenced and characterized the genome of a new bacterial species as part of their coursework in Genomics Lab (BSC 4445C) with Drs.
