Grade 6 session leaders are Mr. Dimitriadis (UCF Math Ph.D. student, former Advanced Group leader) & Mr. Boyd (UCF freshman, multi-time MATHCOUNTS champ, first AIME qualified at 8th grade). They'll lead a newly developed program funded by the Dolciani Math Enrichment Grant.

Registration is open for our next Math Circle, starting Jan 25, 2025! 🎉 Middle school students eager to explore the world of math are invited to join us. Register here: https://ucf.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_cNKgoIe5oJvLjUO and find more details at: https://sciences.ucf.edu/math/circle/

We will bring regional middle school math enthusiasts to our campus again from January 27 to March 2(every Saturday from 2:00 pm to 4:30 pm).  Students will attend the talks and activities led by math faculty members and regional teachers who are NSF/Noyce doctoral fellows in EdD at UCF (2:00 pm – 3:30 pm). Then, students will meet with other middle school students in the same level (Grade 6, Grade 7&8, or Advanced Group), with whom they will discuss mathematical reasoning and the points of view that lead to problem-solving (3:30 pm – 4:30 pm). The problem-solving and discussion activities will be led by graduate students. Our graduate students, and faculty members at the University of Central Florida are waiting for you to spread joy in mathematics and mathematical thinking.

The Central Florida Math Circle is an effort of the Department of Mathematics at the University of Central Florida to offer the middle school students of the Central Florida region an opportunity to have fun with mathematics.

The Math Circle is not directed towards a particular curriculum; it is not a class, a lecture or a tutorial. It is a directed experience in the encouragement of student discovery of mathematics. We are happy to be part of a national effort “The National Association of Math Circles” to encourage and develop mathematical insight in students.

Our Sessions

All sessions are guided by math faculties, and graduate and undergraduate students at the University of Central Florida. Each session consists of two parts. In the first part of each session (2:00 pm – 3:30 pm), faculty members will give talks on the intriguing topics of mathematics or lead mathematical explorations. In the second part of each session (3:30 pm – 4:30 pm), students will be engaged in problem-solving and discussion activities with the curriculum-related enrichment topics which will sharpen their understanding of the curriculum-related materials.

All sessions will be held on Saturdays, 2:00 pm-4: 30 pm, in the Mathematical Sciences Building on the UCF campus. The locations will be announced later.
