Arboretum Student Spotlight- Meet Alicia

My name is Alicia Lowenstein, and I am one of the Co-coordinators for the Community Farm & Gardens Team. Starting as an intern, the Arb quickly became my home away from home, and my co-workers became my closest friends. My passions include permaculture, farm to table cooking, and learning about Florida’s ecology. From conducting prescribed burns, to planning our farm, to collecting native flowers for plant presses—I have learned so much over the past year. I graduate in December 2020 and go back and forth between wanting to be involved in environmental politics or escaping to a small town and opening a farm to table restaurant. My favorite phrase is “Tikkun Olam,” which translates to, “the world is broken and it’s our job to fix it”.
