Richard Tucker gerontology research awards

The Office of Interdisciplinary Studies and the Office of Undergraduate Studies are pleased to announce the Richard Tucker Gerontology Research Awards Program for the Academic Year 2013-14. Professor Emeritus Richard Tucker joined UCF in 1972 from Emory University where he completed his Ph.D. His general interests are in Developmental psychology particularly as related to aging issues.

He serves as Director, UCF Initiative on Aging and Longevity. Current specific interests include: characteristics of older Canadians in Florida with focus on health care needs and utilization; the effects of respite care on care givers for those with Alzheimer’s disease; and general issues in clinical geropsychology.

The purpose of this award program is to promote all aspects of research at the University of Central Florida relating to the scientific study of the social, psychological, and biological aspects of aging.

This prestigious award is open to all UCF faculty members and graduate students. All UCF faculty supported applied research in the area of gerontology, including proposed or in progress research studies, will be considered for the award. As such, this award is intended to incentivize and recognize gerontology research studies at the University of Central Florida.
