Florida flatwoods research wins award

Elizabeth Becker, a recent College of Sciences graduate, was awarded the Elsie Quarterman-Catherine Keever Award, which is given by the SE Chapter of the Ecological Society of America.

Becker received the award for the best ecological poster presented by a student at an annual meeting of the Association of Southeastern Biologists. The award is given in honor of two of the most notable women ecologists in the Southeastern U.S. and their contributions to ecological sciences.

She was awarded for her poster and presentation at the 72nd annual meetings in Huntsville, Alabama entitled “Effects of Florida Flatwoods Ecosystem Restoration and Management on Carbon Stock.”
