2The UCF Chicago Alumni Chapter welcomed a group of UCF students to the Windy City during a networking event on Tuesday, March 8, 2016.

UCF’s Nicholson School of Communication instructors, Joan McCain, Lindsay Hudcok, and Gary LaPage traveled with a group of 24 students to Chicago for spring break to learn about careers in advertising and public relations. Alumni in the Chicago area shared industry knowledge, career advice and reminisced about days as Knights while enjoying drinks and appetizers at Maggiano’s Little Italy in downtown Chicago.

“The energy pouring out of the doors was inescapable,” Joan McCain, associate instructor of advertising-public relations at UCF, commented about the successful event. “The students were so touched by the willingness of alumni to help them, connect with them and answer questions.”

UCF Chicago Alumni Chapter vice president and Nicholson School of Communication alumna, Andrea Bejarano, ’12, agreed on the success of the event, “Students had the opportunity to talk to alumni throughout the evening and receive great insight from people in the business.”

The Ad/PR students also had the opportunity to explore the city, meet with additional Ad/PR alumni in the area and toured organizations in the industry during their four day trip.
