COS bids farewell to celebrated forensic scientist

Please join us from 2 to 4 p.m. on Monday, June 25, 2012, at the National Center for Forensic Science, conference room 223, as we say farewell to Director Carrie Whitcomb.

Carrie was hired in 1999 and has served the National Center for Forensic Science as its director since that time. In addition to facilitating the consolidation of research in the areas of biological and physical evidence, Carrie established a Digital Evidence Unit at the center. The latter led to the establishment of national professional standards for digital evidence examiners.

During her tenure, the center attracted significant federal funding to the tune of several million dollars. Carrie has been instrumental in establishing productive working relationships with federal, state, and local agencies in the area of applied forensics, and she has been recognized by the broader forensic community with a number of prestigious service awards.

Please join us in celebrating Carrie’s accomplishments and contributions to NCFS and to the forensic science and criminal justice communities.
