Healing Powers of Fire Cider

On Friday, July 7, the University of Central Florida Arboretum held a workshop enlightening people on the benefits of fire cider.

Fire cider is a mixture of simple, natural ingredients that is fermented for at least a month to create an antibiotic drink. It can be consumed straight or added to food and drinks. The ingredients in fire cider work as natural remedies that people all around the world have used for centuries.

Some of the essential ingredients include garlic, turmeric, ginger, onion, rosemary, jalapeño and lemonAll of these plants hold antibacterial or antiseptic properties that provide the body with a stronger immune system and a way to fight off viruses and infections.

The versatility of the drink doesn’t stop there. It can also be used to liven up food or spice up a salad. Fire cider has been around for more than 50 years and is gaining momentum as a force to be reckoned with.

At the event, attendees brought their own mason jars and took some prepared fire cider home to taste the benefits themselves.
