India Center names senior as Fall 2019 India Fellow

Senior Monica Foster is the Fall 2019 India Fellow for the Office of Global Perspectives and International Initiatives (GPII), in cooperation with the India Center. She is pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology, with a minor in Religion and Cultural Studies, as well as Creative Writing. Foster is a member of Phi Eta Sigma Honor Society and a student in the Burnett Honors College. Her fellowship research focuses on international collaboration with India’s Space Research Organization. On being the India Fellow she states: “Being aware of a country so far away, and yet so closely tied to the U.S. has helped to expand my international awareness and given me a chance to care about issues outside of myself. I have always been interested in the culture and traditions of India; researching the nuances of their daily successes and struggles has given me a deeper understanding of India’s history and future goals.” GPII awards the India Fellowship to one student each fall and spring semester.
