Is the Future Sustainable?

P-Jaques

Dr. Peter Jacques, Associate Professor, recently published a new book that introduces the issues in global sustainability in Sustainability: The Basics published by Routledge. The text includes a discussion of the contested meaning and core principles of sustainability, issues of measuring sustainability, as well as the ethics and politics that surrounds sustainability. The book concludes with lessons from collapsed civilizations.  The book contains contemporary and historic case studies, suggestions for further study, and a glossary of terms.

Dr. Jacques also directs the Political Ecology Lab for undergraduate research and mentoring, and teaches environmental politics and sustainability courses. He is happy to discuss this topic with interested students during office hours.

More information can be found at the book’s website.
