Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer Honors UCF Alumnus with “Mark Schlueb Day”
Orlando Sentinel senior reporter, Mark Schlueb, ’93, will return to his alma mater as senior communications coordinator for UCF News & Information nearly twenty-two years after graduating.
Schlueb worked for the Orlando Sentinel for almost fourteen years, covering politics and Orlando City Hall. Orlando Mayor, Buddy Dyer, bid farewell to Schlueb by declaring Friday, Jan. 23, 2015 as ‘Mark Schlueb Day.’
Schlueb graduated from UCF with a bachelor’s degree in journalism and minor in political science in 1993. Prior to joining the Sentinel in 2001, he worked as a reporter and editor at several other newspapers, including the Fort Pierce Tribune, Daytona Beach News Journal, and Akron Beacon Journal.
“I couldn’t be more excited to be coming back to UCF. I started my journalism career writing for The Central Florida Future, and now I’ll get to share more great stories about the university with the rest of the world,” Said Schlueb.
The Orlando Sentinel posted the below video of Mayor Dyer teasingly “roasting” Schlueb as he bid him farewell.
