Political science professor named Managing Executive Editor
Peter J. Jacques, Associate Professor of Political Science, has accepted the role of Managing Executive Editor at the Journal of Environmental Studies and Science (JESS), the flagship journal for the international Association of Environmental Studies and Sciences, published by Springer.
JESS sets the standard for rigorous interdisciplinary environmental research and provides a forum for the increasingly integrated and trans-disciplinary nature of sound environmental research. The AESS and the Journal provide advance interdisciplinary approaches to the study of the coupled human-nature systems.
A major goal of AESS is to encourage this advancement by promoting related teaching, research and service across disciplines. Associate Professor Jacques has been studying the interaction of science and society via political counter-movements, and he has been working on integrating marine sciences into a new field of “social oceanography” to understand social-marine systems critical to sustainability.
His research is on Global Environmental Change, Sustainability Science, Indigenous Sustainability Issues, Ocean Conservation, Climate Change and Political Ecology/Green Political Theory.
