Retirement reception for former anthropology professor

The Women’s Research Center and the Office of Research & Commercialization invite you to a retirement reception in honor of Dr. Leslie Sue Lieberman.

Dr. Lieberman came to UCF in 2001 as a professor of anthropology and she is the founding director of UCF’s Women’s Research Center. For the last decade, the Women’s Research Center has worked to enhance both the prominence of research relevant to women and the research capacity of UCF women faculty.

Dr. Lieberman’s passion for elevating the accomplishments of women is evidenced by the accomplishments of the center: more than 30 solo exhibits by women artists; establishment of an annual awards competition for women in arts and humanities; establishment of an annual campus-wide celebration of women researchers; mentoring and nurturing women faculty members; integrating research by and about women with the Central Florida community and beyond.

Prior to coming to UCF, Dr. Lieberman was a professor of anthropology and pediatrics at the University of Florida for 25 years. She is a biomedical anthropologist with research specializations in type 2 diabetes, nutrition and obesity, especially among U.S. minority women. She also has worked in Croatia since 1988.

Please join us in wishing Dr. Lieberman the best.
