Save the date: Summer Commencement is Aug. 6
More than 3,200 University of Central Florida students are expected to graduate during two commencement ceremonies Saturday, Aug. 6 at the UCF Arena.
The anticipated graduates include 2,593 who filed intents to receive bachelor’s degrees, 546 for master’s degrees, three for education specialist degrees, 10 for educational doctoral degrees and 82 for doctoral degrees.
The first ceremony at 9 a.m. will feature graduates of the College of Arts and Humanities, the College of Education, the College of Business Administration, Rosen College of Hospitality Management and also Liberal Studies and Social Science majors through the Undergraduate Studies and Graduate Studies offices.
James A. Drake, the president of Brevard Community College, will be the guest speaker. Drake worked at UCF for 12 years and served as the associate vice president for Academic Affairs and was the director of UCF’s Southern Region campuses.
Students from the College of Engineering and Computer Science, the College of Health and Public Affairs, the College of Medicine, the College of Nursing, the College of Optics and Photonics and the College of Sciences will graduate during the 2 p.m. ceremony.
The speaker at the afternoon ceremony is State Rep. Mike Horner, who was elected to the House of Representatives in 2008. He represents parts of Okeechobee, Orange, Osceola and Polk counties. Horner is a fifth-generation Floridian, a veteran and earned his Master’s of Public Administration degree from UCF.
Guests must have tickets to attend the ceremonies. Guests without tickets are welcome to view live closed-circuit telecasts of the ceremonies from the FAIRWINDS Alumni Center across from the UCF Arena.
