Spotlight on NSC Alumni Chapter Chair: Jason Holic

Four years ago, Jason Holic was attending classes inside the UCF Nicholson School of Communication building preparing for graduation. Majoring in advertising/public relations, Holic knew he would soon enter the “real world” but he was not nervous to leave the univesrity because he knew that UCF would always be part of him.

After all, how could it not after being involved with numerous UCF organizations, including serving as President of Beta Theta Pi, Chair of the Greek Council Expansion, a member of O-Team in 2006, being on the President’s Leadership Council, and an active Quotes member.

Holic interned at Stadler/Green Advertising and Florida Municipal Power Agency while he was an undergraduate student at UCF. After graduation, he attended the University of South Carolina and received his master’s degree in Mass Communication and Integrated Communication. Holic has worked at a variety of places including the Carolina Alumni Association, AdEase Inc., and opened Bacon Digital in College Park where he managed online advertising, website development, and social media strategy. In addition, Holic recently started a new position as Senior Manager of Solutions at MindComet.

Holic is more than equipped to be the UCF Nicholson School of Communication Alumni Chapter Chair. He is the former Co-Chair of the San Diego UCF Alumni Club and was responsible for coordinating social and community events to further foster affinity among UCF alumni in the greater San Diego area of California. In addition, he was the main source of communication for alumni who wanted to stay connected to UCF. During his time in San Diego, Jason was also involved in the Interactive Day San Diego Committee, the American Advertising Federation Ad Club of San Diego, and the Social Media Club of San Diego.

When he came back to Orlando in November of 2011, Jason found that serving as the UCF Nicholson School of Communication Alumni Chapter Chair would allow him to develop innovative ways for UCF NSC alumni to get involved with the chapter. His goal is to bring alumni back to the school by providing continuing education and keeping them connected to their alma mater. In addition, the chapter will host guest speaking engagements, employer networking socials in conjunction with Intern Pursuit and will develop a signature event to raise funds for the chapter’s student scholarship, the Dr. William K. Grasty Memorial Scholarship.

“I have managed to stay in touch with many of my former professors and fellow alumni through chapter involvement, and I wouldn’t have been able to get as far as I have in my career without their advice, connections, and referrals,” said Holic.

The UCF Nicholson School of Communication Alumni Chapter allows alumni to reconnect with old classmates, expand their professional network and support their alma mater.
