Student wins foreign affairs fellowship

Stephanie Parenti, a political science student, was awarded the 2011 Thomas R. Pickering Graduate Foreign Affairs Fellowship.

Parenti was one of 20 students selected as a Pickering Fellow out of a national applicant pool of approximately 400 people. The Pickering Fellowship provides financial support to exceptional student pursuing careers in the Foreign Service. It awards students up to $40,000 annually during their first and second years of graduate school.

Parenti will attend Seton Hall University as a Pickering Fellow. Her thesis, directed by Dr. David Houghton, an associate professor of political science, was entitled “‘Neocolonialism: Construction and Solutions.”
