Elected Officers

Reef Collins| President

Reef is a fourth-year physics major on the astronomy track. His academic and professional interests include mission development through aerospace technology research and development under Dr. Pascal Lee of the Mars Institute, and Exoplanetary Atmospheric Climate Modeling under Dr. Ramses Ramirez, here at UCF. Fun fact: I have over 50 Hawaiian and button up shirts with themes from the regular floral to space.

Alex Dorn | Vice President

Alex is third-year a Physics and Mathematics double major. He currently works with Dr. Başak Gürel, studying algebraic and differential topology, and with Dr. Costas Efthimiou, studying differential geometry and its applications to dynamical systems. Fun facts: If you ever see me around, I’m always happy to help with math or physics, although I’m certainly prone to tangents.

Zakaria El-Helw | Secretary

Zakaria is a second-year math and physics double major. They are currently researching topological condensed matter, using both experimental and theoretical methods, under Dr. Madhab Neupane. Fun facts: I enjoy miserable movies and music. I can also speak 6 languages, play guitar and scuba dive!

Brandon is a third-year physics student on the materials track with a math minor. Fun facts: I like video games and dabble in writing. I also have 100%ed Microsoft Solitaire Collection.

Reese Laushot | Event Coordinator

Reese is a second-year Physics major on the Astronomy track at the University of Central Florida. Her research interests are in astrophysics and astrobiology, driven by a fascination with the origins of the universe and the possibility of life within it. She currently works with Dr. Stephen Eikenberry, analyzing the behavior of the T Coronae Borealis, which is a recurrent nova set to explode within a year or so. Fun facts: I enjoy playing video games, drawing, listening to music, and cosplaying. Also, I have a soft spot for anything alien or deer-related or both.

Lee Lyday | Social Media Manager

Lee is a second-year physics major on the materials track with a dual minor in chemistry and mathematics. She is currently doing theoretical condensed matter research with Dr. Richard Klemm and is an undergraduate research assistant in the Hopper Ultrafast Control Lab under Dr. Tom Hopper. Fun fact: In my free time, I do competitive clogging at a dance studio in Lakeland, FL.

Destiny Marrero | Historian

Destiny is a first-year general physics and math double major currently doing optics research in Frequency Selective Surface fabrication with Dr. Stephen Kuebler. Fun fact: I love gaming and Dungeons & Dragons, I’ve played in over 7 campaigns!

Darnyisha Fertil | Actuary

Dar is a second-year math major on the general track.
