Degree Requirements
The Ph.D. is designed to be obtained in 4-5 years of full-time study from the baccalaureate level and in 3-4 years from the master’s level. (A minimum of one year full-time student status is required.) For students who enter with a baccalaureate degree, the program requires 74 semester hours minimum. Students who enter with a master’s degree may be granted up to 30 hours of transfer credit with approval of the program faculty, and will also be required to complete a minimum of 60 semester hours at UCF.

Here’s what you’ll need to apply:
- A bachelor’s or master’s degree in psychology or a related field
- Courses in statistics and experimental psychology
- Resume or CV
- Personal statement that tells us about your background, research interests, and optionally, which faculty member you’d like to work with
- Three letters of recommendation
- One official transcript
- And good news — GRE scores are not required!

- Complete research methods, statistics, and experimental psychology courses like cognition, perception, and learning courses
- Getting involved in research labs-hands-on experience is key
- Try to publish or present at conferences to show your engagement with the field
