COS fellow featured in Orlando Sentinel
Ted Reynolds, a political scientist and fellow at UCF, was featured in an article by the Orlando Sentinel this month.
Posts, tweets, and videos on social media sites are a key driving force behind the Occupy Orlando and other “99%” protest movements across Central Florida and the nation, experts say.
“The Facebook phenomenon allows people that have a similar sentiment from different parts of the country to come together and be part of something,” said Ted Reynolds, a political scientist and fellow at the University of Central Florida who is tracking the group on Facebook. “[Occupy Wall Street and its spinoffs] have effectively used the medium. I think the movement would have died without social media.”
