‘Paying It Forward’ Motivates Distinguished Alumna

Gloria LeQuang, ’97, always wanted to give back to the Central Florida community that gave so much to her.

LeQuang, who grew up in Lake Mary, Florida, is the director of marketing and community relations at BRIDG, which is a not-for-profit that provides research and development solutions to bridge technology capability gaps in microelectronics and smart sensors innovation. With more than 20 years of experience in marketing and economic development, LeQuang has always sought opportunities to make an impact on a global scale within Central Florida.

“Orlando is truly an evolving region full of life and friendliness,” LeQuang said. “It’s such a benefit to be part of that.”

While a student in UCF’s advertising and public relations program, LeQuang took full advantage of opportunities to get involved on campus. She was a member of the Quotes PR club, the Asian Student Association and Caribbean Student Association.

LeQuang’s professors were her main motivators throughout her studies. She said that her professors took a personal interest in their students’ careers, and the lectures on public relations were applicable to real-world experience.

“Professors took their time with me and provided me with invaluable guidance even when I didn’t know I needed it,” LeQuang said. “Students and alumni like me should be proud of the UCF professors that motivate them to work harder in pursuit of career goals and help connect them to internship and career opportunities.”

When she wasn’t studying or volunteering, LeQuang dedicated time to the practice of kung fu and spent many years as a martial arts performer, all throughout high school and college to post-graduation.

Shortly after she graduated, LeQuang made a promise to herself that she would give back and help other students in a way that would also strengthen their careers. LeQuang currently mentors her intern, a current UCF student, and is still learning the importance of community every day.

BRIDG is involved in a wide spectrum of industries from agricultural and space to defense and cybersecurity. LeQuang said by leveraging a growing list of high tech industry partners and the existing strengths of academic partners, BRIDG strengthens Florida as a global leader of innovation.

“I love BRIDG’s mission and impact, which is both exciting and challenging,” LeQuang said. “ Although my job requires me to take on multiple responsibilities, it is inspiring to see our community join together in support of this transformational project, and I’m thankful to be a part of that visionary team.”

LeQuang currently lives close to her tight-knit Vietnamese family where they always take care of each other. After growing up in Central Florida for most of her life, LeQuang said being able to give back to the community benefits more than herself. 

“At the end of the day, I’m a mommy of two little ones,” LeQuang said. “I want to build a bright future for them. It’s nice to do that in our own backyard.”
