UCF Alumni Tie the Knot – Summer 2013
Jimmy Skiles, ’06, and Kim Merkur ’08, were married June 15, 2013 in Key Largo, Fla. UCF alumni in the wedding party included: Abby Martin-Winblad, ’08; Alexina Binnie-Alonso, ’08; maid of honor Melissa Merkur-Ventre, ’07; Derek Warden, ’08; Tom Kunnen, ’06; Adam Pallesen, ’06; Matt DeSalvo, ’06; and best man Brandon Purington, ’06. The groomsmen all received UCF Basketball jerseys with their last names on the back. The newlyweds reside in Blacksburg, Va. where Jimmy is the director of Athletics Marketing for Virginia Tech and Kim is a physical therapist. Jimmy graduated from UCF with a bachelor’s degree in radio-television.
Erin Verstegen (Brown), ’03, married Dash Verstegen. The two met while attending Whittier College to obtain their teaching credentials and master’s degrees in education. They both currently teach full-time and coach at La Serna High School in California. She teaches English and is the head coach for the Girls Water Polo and Boys & Girls Swimming. He is a defensive ends coach for Varsity Football. She graduated from UCF with a bachelor’s degree in organizational communication.
Olivia Brooks Wilder and Brian Neal Whittaker, ’09, both of Jacksonville, got married on July 6 at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Jacksonville, Fla. Brian graduated from UCF with a bachelor’s degree in political science and is currently attending Florida Coastal School of Law.
