Helping High School Students Discover Careers In Science and Technology

Math-Physics-Open-House-Final-3-1-231x300The Physics and Mathematics Departments of the University of Central Florida will be hosting a Physics and Math Career Exploration Day on Saturday, October 12 at 10:00 AM in room 161 of the Physical Sciences Building.  This event is geared toward high school students who want to explore careers in physics or mathematics.  The students are invited to bring one or two parents along with them to this career exploration day.  Mathematicians and physicists find themselves working in almost every science and engineering environment, including teaching, and are often in leadership roles. The students will hear from physicists and mathematicians about the great career opportunities in their fields.  They will discuss how they chose their careers and what they actually do on a daily basis.  The day will include speakers from both departments (including the Dean of Sciences), a lunch partly sponsored by the Florida High Tech Corridor Council (techPATH), tours of our facilities and finally an opportunity to enjoy ice cream and personal discussions with both faculty and students from both departments. Please share this event with anyone you think would benefit from this program.
