The department is pleased to announce that Dr. Peter Jacques, associate professor and internship coordinator, was appointed to the Executive Board of the Florida Climate Institute, and Co-Director of the UCF Branch. The Florida Climate Institute (FCI) is a multi-disciplinary network of universities in Florida working together and with external partners in the public and private sectors to attain a better understanding of climate variability and change, impacts, and societal response. Supported by relevant colleges, centers, and programs, the FCI is in affiliation with eight member universities within Florida.

Having many accomplishments in this field including the Director of the Political Ecology Lab at UCF, the FCI looks for individuals with a strong interest in climate research and teaching and with working in global environment and sustainability in which Dr. Jacques fits this role. The FCI members at UCF work in areas of hydrology, coastal dynamics, aquatic ecology, terrestrial ecosystem studies, and communications.
