Afghanistan 2014
On Sept. 11, Dr. Roger Kangas, Dean of the Near East South Asia Center for Strategic Studies, visited the Political Science Department to give a presentation on “Afghanistan 2014: Security Challenges to the Neighboring States.”
Dr. Kangas has vast research and policy experience in the Central Asian region. He previously served as as a Professor of Central Asian Studies at the George C. Marshall Center for European Security in Garmisch Partenkirchen, Germany, and was Deputy Director of the Central Asian Institute at the Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) in Washington. Dr. Kangas has also served as an an advisor to the Combatant Commands, NATO/ISAF, the US Air Force Special Operations School, the National Democratic Institute, the Academy for Educational Development, USIA, USAID, and other US government agencies.
The presentation was attended by faculty and graduate students in the Master’s program and the new PhD program in Security Studies.
