Dr. Linda Walters Day!

Dr. Linda Walters, a biology professor at UCF, has a new day to celebrate her life and her work – Dr. Linda Walters Day! Volusia County, Florida urged all residents to celebrate Dr. Walters for her “dedication to teaching, research and the environment” on November 6.

The county released an official document announcing the honor explaining that Dr. Walters “is passionate about teaching students and engaging them in hands-on learning experiences,” and “her influence goes beyond the academic setting as she finds time to research the human impacts on the marine environment.”

Dr. Walters recently won the Coastal and Estuarine Research Federation’s prestigious William A. Niering Outstanding Educator Award. She is known for her volunteer projects through out the Central Florida community.
