IACC Recognizes Leaders, Celebrates Success at 9th Gala

Distinguished guests and a year of growth were recognized Saturday at the Indian American Chamber of Commerce’s 9th Annual Awards Gala.

IACC President Yog Melwani addressed more than 300 entrepreneurs and business managers gathered in Orlando International Airport’s Intermodal Terminal Facility.

“IACC continues to experience extraordinary growth in 2018, while building a strong presence in Orlando,” Melwani said.

The event’s keynote speaker was the University of Central Florida’s new president Dr. Dale Whittaker. Whittaker praised the IACC’s focus on building community connections, and listed The India Center at UCF as an example.

The India Center focuses not only on India’s role in the global arena, but it also develops partnerships with universities, companies, and governmental cultural organizations.

“Central Florida, UCF and India are all on the same trajectory; we are all rising in excellence and impact. Our region — and nation — needs a center to address issues and identify opportunities important to both India and the U.S. UCF’s alignment with India’s growth and our strengths in technology, politics, security, medicine, and more, along with our numerous and talented faculty across UCF’s many disciplines make us well-positioned to lead this effort,” Whittaker said.
