UCF live from South Africa

Through a partnership between UCF and Cobham, Phil Peters is directing the Fall 2010 Expedition to South Africa. From November 15th to December 9th, Interactive Expeditions will be on the road from Johannesburg to Cape Town and webcasting live on location twice a week. Join them as they explore contemporary African culture, art, music, and dance, by interviewing the artists who are defining what it means to be South African after apartheid.

Interactive Expeditions is an independent mobile research lab at UCF that uses modern mobile satellite antenna technology and two-way video conferencing in order to connect at-home learners with instructors who are live in the field.

The South Africa expedition is designed to enhance two online classes at UCF. Over 100 students enrolled in the classes taught by Drs. Bruce Janz and Rosalyn Howard will travel to Africa without leaving the comfort of their home computers. By tuning into eight live webcast sessions, the students will be able to experience Africa in real time; interacting with their instructor and local people through live video conferencing.

The webcast schedule is twice a week, Mondays and Thursdays. Each broadcast is 90 minutes long and will begin at 9AM EST. Check out Interactive Expeditions blog for more information here.
